Kalkman Ballast Jet – Rapid Ballasting

Kalkman’s Ballast Jet system enables vessels to increase operational range and minimise delays caused by low bridges or draught restrictions – without the need for complex installations or piping.
The system allows rapid intake and discharge of ballast water with high flow capacity at relatively low power, minimal installation space, and no external pipework required.

A key advantage is that the full capacity is available even while the vessel is underway, allowing faster passage through sections with limited air draught.

Because the Ballast Jet is mounted low in the vessel, the hold can be completely emptied.
To ensure smooth operation, the electric motor is controlled via a frequency inverter, allowing stepless speed adjustment through a remote control.
Valves can be installed on both the hull side and the hold side – at least one valve is required – and can be manual or electrically actuated.
